Very Good

We booked at Queen's for 2 nights and finally extended for one more :) Thanks a lot to a wonderful friendly staff of the hotel, they helped us a lot, special thanks for your surprise for my mum's birthday, she was so happy to get this tasty beautiful cake from you on her day Hotel is very antique and the vintage atmosphere is fantastic. Location is the best, very comfortable to reach Kandy spots from this hotel. Our room was cosy and clean, we had kettle, tea, coffee, water in our room, cleaning was offered daily.

As for me, I would prefer more lighting in the room and a little upgrade, to change some items of furniture to new ones, to make room look fresher but preserving vintage look and definetely to add more bright lamps, lights. I would say that breakfast could be included in this price, as the price pretty high comparing to other Kandy hotels. But we loved our days there and would come back

Loved the old colonial style. Can be great with nce everything is restored.

Loved the old colonial style and that they didn’t try to modernise the hotel. They are busy with renovations to the outside facade which will make it look like it did back in the day. Very friendly staff and always helpful. We didn’t eat the buffet lunch or dinner but the menu looked nice with a lot of options. The Sri Lankan breakfast was also nice with roti and different curries. Our room was very big with a working aircon. VERY central which was amazing.

Some areas inside are in need of touching up. A new paint layer can go a long way. This hotel has so much potential and hopefully it will be restored back to its grand self once all the renovations are complete.

Had a pleasant stay at Queens hotel, excellent location close to all key tourist destinations, and shopping.

Location is excellent, old world charm, if you love heritage properties this is one. Decent food. Hustle bustle of the city centre. Shopping options.

Heritage property hence you may face malfunctioning of taps, switches etc.

Good central location

As many reviews stated it’s as if nothing was done to the hotel in years. Despite this the rooms are large and has that colonial elegant feel. A little bit rough round the edges! Excellent location, the road is busy and noisy so ask for an internal facing room if that bothers you! The bed was the most comfortable we had on our trip. Didn’t try the food here.

Some parts could do with a clean like the net curtains and dressing table seat.

Great central position. Good value for money

The location is fantastic. Pacific travel company within the hotel sorted train tickets and very professional

Beautiful old hotel, loved the ambience and felt relaxed there

Fabulous old hotel, needs a lot of love to be lavished on it and then I am sure it could be restored to its former glory. Location excellent, traffic a bit noisy but what do you expect for city centre. I liked the pool and loved the ambience of the hotel.

Bed was clean and comfortable and had an english film on TV

Great Location with a grand façade

Stayed 20th Feb 2024. We booked four rooms for one night on our tour of central Sri Lanka. Each room was a different layout and quite spacious. Rooms were clean with comfortable beds. We didn't dine there or use the bar so can not comment. The location was the reason for the booking close to everything we wanted to visit.

However the bathrooms need a little a little attention and could look a little more inviting.

Nostalgic sojourn

A colonial period hotel right by the lake, lovely details and furniture. The bar and landings and lift are something special. The staff are attentive especially the duty manager. It really feels like a step back in time.

The hot water was a bit slow but eventually came good, just felt like a waste of water. Things are a bit crumbly but that's half the charm. Wouldn't class it as a modern 4 star but it's a very lovely place to stay.

Historical hotel (quality long gone) in perfect city entre location

This is a historical hotel with 160 yesr old stories to tell. We loved the location, atmosphere and long forgotten glory of this place. One night experience while visiting Kandy was overall fantastic. We would do it again for sure. We ordered junior suite but finally got Georginia corner room in West Wing. It was loud but atmospheric and with great city views. We really loved this experience. Breakfast was quite fine. Location is perfect (!!!!)

Its so rundown one may cry. Bathroom in one of the best rooms in this hotel is terrible. It just 50 years old or more. We feel sorry that such a great hotel detteriorates… its so sorry to see. There was also check in hassle. We ordered junior suite but got ordinary, hospital alike economy room. When we went down to the reception to show booking.com reservation photos of the room, they moved us to proper room (they said it was an upgrade but I am sure its what we paid for in the first place). All conducted with Srilankan smile of course :-)

Great stay at the Queens!

Great location in the heart of Kandy. Could not be any more central. The staff were generally great despite some occasional confusion. All round a really great stay!

Not really alot to dislike. Wifi is not good so don't expect to be doing a remote working holiday. Didn't matter to us.

Grand building, but faded fixtures and facilities

It is an iconic old building on the lake. Very impressive looking, especially in the public areas. One of the few places to get a meal and a drink late on a rainy night.

Old and fraying fixtures, especially in the rooms. Electrical outlets and wifi are very ropey. Very few tv channels (and remote did not work). Buffet in the restaurant was okay, but nothing special. A la carte items were often not available.

Best location in Kandy, antique hotel, going back in time, which I enjoyed

Location is superb! It is like going back to the past, we had the junior suite and this was bigger than most apartments I have lived.

Old colonial charme, emphasising on old.

Old colonial charme, although some aspects seem like they haven't been altered since 1850, e.g. the wooden bathroom flooring. Perfectly situated in the middle of the city, right in front of the Temple of the tooth. Very Helpful personnel.

The guests from the room above us set the bathroom floor under water which caused water to drip from our ceiling. But the room boys did a very good job to clean and solve the problem.

Comfortable and central

The hotel needs a bit of work internally to moderise it however it adds to the colonel history. The bed wss very old and noisey. Staff very helpful and friendly.
